Medical Planner Alejandro expresses himself through many media, including crafting modern chess pieces, designing furniture, photography and sketch.
Alejandro’s favorite projects are those that pose an intellectual challenge, and over thirteen years at WHR, he has had plenty of opportunity to resolve difficult issues. “Nearly every morning I encounter a new perspective, or a surprising change of direction, and have learned to think on my feet. There was a time when I started calling myself ‘the fireman’ because many projects that came across my desk were somehow in some sort of crisis, and I was able to save them."
Alejandro’s boldness of character and willingness to tackle tough problems is valuable to WHR clients. His success is supported by guidance from his WHR mentors, and by design teams where client, architect, consultants and contractor work together toward a common goal. For instance, when it became apparent early in visioning process that the intended duplication of the Katy Memorial Hermann prototype hospital would not quite fit the needs of their Sugar Land facility, “it was the combined experience, creativity, and resilience of the design team, working closely with a great, involved client, that let us re-focus, re-ideate, and re-document quickly. Together, we managed to actually finish the project ahead of schedule and under budget.”
“Diving into projects gave me the experience and the confidence to follow my path as a Medical Planner. Today, after going back to Texas A&M for my Masters degree in Architecture with a Certificate in Health Systems and Design, I am working on the most challenging projects, surrounded by the most talented people, and doing exactly what I love. It’s a treat!”
