Our Process

Since our inception, we have understood our work to be part of a covenant with our clients to help them maximize the value of the buildings we design with them. The financial and staff resources they commit to their projects is an investment in their future and requires a commensurate commitment on our part to understand their vision, their goals and the dynamic environment in which they find themselves. We think of this as an empathetic approach to design: an attempt on our part to never lose sight of the client’s perspective.

Our process allows our clients to participate in and contribute to the design outcome as much as possible. We utilize a knowledge-seeking, evidence-based design process that uses the best available information to guide design decisions, contribute to building performance, and enhance the positive influence our buildings can have on those who occupy them.

The success of our empathetic design process is measured by the following outcomes:

  • For our clients:  relevance and value in the services we provide,
  • For our collaborators:  respect and reliability,
  • For those who use our buildings:  enhanced well-being,
  • For the natural environment:  reduced burden on our natural resources,
  • For our staff:  empowered and maximized individual potential, and
  • For the community:   enhanced experience through the creation of memorable and inspiring places.
