Designer, Graphic Artist One of Anthony’s favorite projects was a design competition on the campus of the University of St. Thomas, for which Philip Johnson had created the iconic Chapel of St. Basil, and is very near Renzo Piano’s Menil Collection. “We asked questions like ‘what if we respected Philip Johnson’s architectural language?’ and ‘what if we responded to the nomenclature of the Menil’s roof system’. These kinds of questions set us on a design path that resulted in a building that fits the architectural language of the campus and the neighborhood fabric, but is very innovative and iconic in its own right.” Anthony’s curiosity to explore ideas from people who are not in the industry also benefits WHR clients. “Meeting people for the first time and learning about their needs and visions has always been intriguing. The possibilities are abundant at the beginning of the design process, and you never know where each client’s vision will lead you. We really embrace the phrase “architecture with people in mind” and I would say the most satisfying part of my job is not only design, but the inclusionary process we follow to arrive at a place that enhances lives and touches many people.” |
