Challenge WHR Advisors were contacted about developing an early project vision for a new hospital in the Northwest community. The Exempla mission, vision and context map were reviewed to set the stage for a visioning exercise.
Solution WHR facilitates vision sessions to engage leadership in planning the future as an integrated whole. WHR Advisors and Exempla brainstormed and prioritized concepts for design of the new facility.
Three groups were formed to represent clinical aspects, consumer aspects and operations/administrative aspects. Each group was asked to imagine a ‘Cover Story’ about the success of the completed project.
Physician recruitment was discussed considering the evidence-based medicine approach that was desired for this facility.
Results A recommendation was made to review the re-design of work processes around interdisciplinary teams, using the mantra "Design the organization before you design the facility."
