Challenge WHR Advisors was engaged to complete a market assessment for a Houston suburb to identify the number of beds needed for a new hospital. The data analysis yielded inpatient beds per population for the proposed market; current inpatient utilization rates by service; and current inpatient care providers for the service area population.
Process A 10-year market demand projection by service for inpatient volumes was completed. The demographic analysis by age and gender cohorts, partnered with current utilization rates by service led to identification of market priorities.
A matrix was created for ease of client use in determining sensitivities to Average Length of Stay (ALOS), market share and occupancy percentages.
