The University of Texas at El Paso Biosciences Facility
El Paso, Texas

WHR is currently in the design of the University of Texas at El Paso Biosciences Building. It is a project of great importance for the University of Texas at El Paso. The building will follow the pattern of Bhutanese architecture established on the campus, and inspired by a 1918 article in National Geographic. This facility will showcase the research prowess of the Department of Biological Science, as well as providing state-of-the-art space for the biomedical research to be conducted. Its scope encompasses a new facility and potentially some minor demolition at connection points to adjacent buildings. The project will greatly enhance the research mission of the University by increasing the research facilities and research support for the College of Sciences. The project envisions the construction of approximately 84,500 gross square feet of new building, which results in approximately 50,670 assignable square feet of space at a net/gross factor of 60%. This space would be dedicated to laboratories, animal facilities to include a Vivarium and Aquatic facility, a Bio-Safety Level-3 laboratory, necessary support facilities and offices, as well as offices for the Border Biomedical Research Center.
