Institute of Biosciences and Technology
Houston, Texas

Originally conceived to accommodate continually changing research missions, this facility is made up of 210,000 square feet of modular generic labs and shell space. To minimize floor penetrations that would compromise future modifications, the building utilizes exterior vertical chases for utility services. We have completed two special laboratory projects within the IBT building, including the University of Texas Health Science Centers Institute of Molecular Medicine and a Modular Biomedical Lab for Texas A&M.; The UT/IMM space includes general lab areas, tissue culture rooms, environmental cold rooms, a radioisotope lab, and a cell sorter lab. The facility for Texas A&M; includes instrument rooms, environmental rooms, tissue culture rooms, isotope labs, conferencing facilities, and support space.
