WHR
is a full service architectural firm that respects intern
architects and interior designers as professionals-in-training,
not only as the future leaders of our firm, but also the potential
leaders of the design and construction industry. We believe
that staff empowerment can only exist in a firm with full
and equal accessibility to career opportunities, benefits,
recognition, and rewards for everyone who contributes to the
firm's mission and supporting the firm's founding values.
We
received the IDP Firm of the Year Award for our approach to
the enhancement of its employees through mentoring and continuing
education programs. Integral to our success is the concept
that the firm should nurture a mentoring, learning environment
that offers a full range of educational and career opportunities
that supports each individuals' career plan and role in the
firm.
A
unique component of our Intern Development Program is the
Tradewell Fellowship
Program. This fellowship is a one-year program in
medical planning for a graduate of an accredited architectural
program. It includes employment at WHR as a medical planning
intern and a scholarship to attend a national conference on
healthcare planning, design, and construction. A number of
our intern architects and interior designers are actively
involved with AIA and IIDA and serve on local and state committees.
We
offer an in-house continuing education program that is authorized
by the AIA to issue Continuing Education Units for employee
participation. We not only encourage participation of our
employees in professional activities, but also pay for dues
associated with these organizations. One of the current employee
benefits includes paid time off to take the NCARB and NCIDQ
exams, and financial reimbursement for each section of the
exam passed.
