University of Houston Downtown (UHD) – Welcome Center & Girard Street Parking

WHR is providing design and construction administration services for the new Welcome Center and Girard Street Garage located on the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) campus.

The new Welcome Center will be a two-story structure that will capitalize on the views of downtown Houston and be located immediately west of the new garage, to serve as the main entry point for the UHD campus with offices for Enrollment and Orientation Services. The Welcome Center will be elevated above grade and make an aligning connection to the third floor of the One Main Building and is intended to provide a new, more open and transparent “face” to the downtown campus.

An existing 400-car parking facility will be demolished to make way for the new multi-level parking structure that will contain at least 350 parking spaces with a tenant build-out for administration and academic support spaces on the upper levels.
