Trinity Mother Frances Hospital - Expansion & Ornelas Tower

The WHR design team worked with hospital user groups to design and complete the 254,336 square foot, 6-story expansion at Trinity Mother Frances. The expanded facility includes a new state-of-the-art Heart Institute and Surgery Center, a fourth floor rooftop garden and 152 private patient rooms. The Ornelas Tower also includes additional nurse stations and work areas for staff.

The surgical facility has 11 surgical suites providing the latest in minimally invasive and other surgical technologies, with expanded cardiovascular, orthopedic and neurosurgical capabilities, creating the largest surgical suites in the region.

With the opening of the Ornelas Tower at Mother Frances Hospital, the Trinity Mother Frances Heart Institute now has six cardiac catheterization labs equipped with the latest technology available. The new Heart Institute increased available heart catheterization labs from the current four to six, and outpatient catheterization unit beds from 14 to 28.

Surgery suites have also increased and expanded in the Ornelas Tower.  11 surgical suites are included in Phase One, with Phase Two adding five additional surgical suites, for a total of 16, with 21 surgical suites possible at a later date.
