“From facilitating early ‘Visioning Sessions,’ to the delivery of the project ahead of schedule and under budget, WHR created an environment that will facilitate safer, better care and growth for many years to come.” - Steve Littleson, President/CEO Jersey Shore University Medical Center
In order to further their mission and respond to the demands of a growing community, Jersey Shore University needed to expand. WHR updated the existing master plan to reflect the hospitals needs, laying the groundwork for current and future expansions. Additional inpatient beds, more outpatient services, and improvement in-access and circulation within the campus were all a priority.
Jersey Shore’s tradition of providing compassionate care for their patients also involved providing healthy environments to facilitate healing. To reinforce their commitment to health and sustainability, they earned LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification, a recognition that their new facilities meet the highest green building and performance measures.
The new design dramatically expanded the hospital’s capacity, capability and healing efficacy while creating a strong connection to nature. The new atrium infused sunlight and natural perspectives into the entrance, welcoming visitors to the healing environment. JSU also created a community campaign and a refreshed identity, supporting the new medical center’s design and 5-year expansion program “Transforming Care: The New Jersey Shore.”
