Centralizing Services in a Clean, Functional Environment

Texas A&M - General Services Office Building & Office of the Texas State Chemist

The General Services Office building was designed in an effort to consolidate administrative functions into a central location. As a result, Texas A&M University System personnel were relocated just a few miles northwest of the main campus to this new building. The building also contained the Office of the Texas State Chemist (OSC)

The 200,000-gross-square-foot General Services Complex contains faculty offices, lounge areas, and conference spaces. The Office of the Texas State Chemist included approximately 11,000 square feet housing 12 different labs, each dedicated to a specific kind of research and experimentation to test soil, fertilizer, and feed for cattle.

This space includes procedure rooms, sample storage areas, break rooms, copy rooms, and work station areas for student lab technicians. About 7,000 square feet of this building provides administrative offices for the staff.

These two buildings were part of the System’s first efforts toward incorporating features of the then recently implemented 2004 Texas A&M University Campus Master Plan. The project also includes a surface parking lot for 650 vehicles.
