Ivo
Cristante
Come join us
for a presentation by Ivo Cristante, who has been the production
designer on the NBC television series "ER" for the past
seven years. Learn what went into creating an artificial hospital
set design and how the physical environment and icons in it send
signals to the users of the space who may not have other ways to
judge the quality of care they receive.
A graduate of York University with a BFA in films, Cristante worked
as a writer, teacher and staff art director for a small production
company in Montreal, Vancouver and Edmonton respectively - before
heading to Los Angeles. There he had opportunity to direct his first
feature in 1981, the low-budget comedy "They Call Me Bruce."
Since then he has served as production designer for over two dozen
independent features, including "Tremors,” Child’s
Play 2," "Amazon Women on the Moon," and "Threesome."
He also art directed two other TV series, "Parker Lewis Can't
Lose" and "1st in Ten."
In addition to the TV and feature work, Cristante has designed residential
interiors, a nightclub in Hollywood, small theatre sets, and award
shows, among other things.
