Mark finds many similarities between what he does and what he loves. At first glance, being a project manager at WHR doesnt appear to be all that similar to how a jazz ensemble performs, but Mark believes the likeness is striking. Jazz brings musicians together, and while they may start off with the same sheet of music, what makes them great is their ability to improvise while maintaining a central theme and ultimately working together to finish the song. Managing projects also requires this kind of improvisation. Much of Marks appreciation for harmony in music and nature can be attributed to his Taliesin Fellowship from the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture. The schools holistic approach to learning architecture struck a chord with him. Ive always thought that the master builder concept and problem solving were interrelated. Mark believes that the master builder, much like a great jazz artist, needs a solid understanding to give meaning to his work. I respect the knowledge base and appreciate WHRs promotion of continuing education. WHR uses team members with decades of experience in addition to younger, eager talent. Its a good, balanced mix.
