Houston, TX — WHR Architects recently named ten outstanding individuals as Associates in its Houston and Dallas offices — talented architects and designers who add depth and perspective to the practice. The newest associates reflect the ongoing growth and diversity of the practice, with representatives from WHR’s healthcare, Education, Science and Technology (EST) and interiors studios in Houston and Dallas, as well as Genesis Planning and the firm’s administration.
In Houston, Interior Designer Gretchen Diesel, IIDA, and her colleague, Interior Designer, Julie Kane, IIDA, RID, LEED® AP, bring years of experience in collaborating with architectural and client teams. In the EST Studio, John Pitre, AIA, RA, serves as Contract Administrator, and Tony Martin, LEED®AP, serves as the BIM Coordinator. Jack Mulligan, PE, LEED®AP, brings extensive experience to his Construction Administrator role for healthcare projects. Administrators Allison Stewart, SPHR, the Human Resources Manager, and Lisa Mack in the Accounting Department, are valuable members of the firm.
Genesis Planning LLC's Jason Kang, LEED®AP, manages Construction Administration and Change Management for medical technology planning projects for the group.
In Dallas, Kate Galpin, Medical Planner, and Charles Lowry, AIA, LEED®AP, Construction Administrator, provide their clients with expertise and years of progressive healthcare experience.
“These talented architects and designers are the future of our practice. They possess not only important traditional strengths in planning, design and construction administration, but also skills in emerging specialties such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), sustainable design and medical technology,” says Senior Principal Ken Ross FAIA.
President and Chairman David Watkins FAIA, commented, “Our new associates embrace the values that have been part of the culture of WHR since our founding: empathy toward those we serve, client-focused design and a rigorous application of knowledge-based practices.”
Among the recent and current projects of the firm: Jersey Shore University Medical Center (Neptune, NJ); Christus St. Frances Cabrini (Alexandria, LA); Oklahoma Heart Hospital South Campus (Oklahoma City, OK); Stephen F. Austin State University; the Richard and Lucille DeWitt School of Nursing (Nacogdoches, TX). Significant projects underway at the Texas Medical Center in Houston include: The University of Texas Health Science Center, Research Park Campus, Behavioral and Biomedical Sciences Building; The Methodist Hospital Outpatient Care Center; and the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Mid-Campus Building.
The number, scale and scope of these projects have helped to make WHR Architects the largest architecture firm in Houston, and a nationally recognized leader in healthcare, education and laboratory design.
