WHR founder David Watkins met Kirk Hamilton in 1965 as freshmen in The University of Texas School of Architecture in Austin and by graduation they had already made plans to start a firm. Those student dreams were fully realized in 1983 when Kirk joined David, then Watkins Reid to form Watkins Carter Hamilton.
In 1997 the firm became Watkins Hamilton Ross in recognition of the contributions and leadership of Ken Ross.
In 2004 Kirk Hamilton joined Texas A&M; University as a professor in the College of Architecture. He continues to pursue the pioneering work in evidence-based design for which WHR is highly recognized, often working in close collaborations with his WHR colleagues.
Today, as WHR Architects, the firm benefits from the wisdom and experience of 30 shareholders and the extraordinary efforts of a staff of over 150 professionals. We serve our clients nationally from offices in Houston and Dallas.
