Hilal was the 2003-2004 AIA/AHA Graduate Fellowship in Health Facility Planning and Design.
During her fellowship she worked on studies related to critical care medicine and presented her work to the Society for Critical Care Medicine.
Hilal also worked on the master planning and Ambulatory Care Center design for Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut.
She currently works as a visiting Assistant Professor for the Prairie View A&M; University school of Architecture.
