WHR Architects brings Genesis Planning onboard integrating architecture and technology to benefit clients

Houston, Texas (April 2007) WHR Architects, Inc. (WHR) announces Genesis Healthcare International, Inc., an industry leader in medical technology planning and strategy, will join their team of specialists as Genesis Planning. This strategic move, which culminates WHRs 17-year working relationship with Genesis, will enable closer collaboration between two of the health and science industrys most innovative and forward thinking practices.

Healthcare, science and research continue to evolve at an accelerated pace that demands new levels of architectural design and technology integration. As one of leading US healthcare and science architects, WHR is strongly committed to delivering improved quality and outcomes for their clients. The integration of architecture and technology is critical to creating best-of-class facilities, says David H. Watkins, FAIA, WHR Chairman and Founding Principal. With Genesis as part of our team, we not only strengthen our knowledge base and expertise, we increase our potential for innovation.

Genesis owner Bob Nimon sees the affiliation with WHR as an important step in his efforts to take technology planning to the next level. Healthcare solutions are increasingly complex and expensive, he notes. The opportunity to participate in open collaboration with the architects at WHR will result in recommendations that are on target earlier in the planning process. Both organizations share a belief in a continual search for knowledge and in its practical application. Together we are better prepared to identify issues and find optimal solutions.

As a cohesive team, WHR and Genesis will provide clients with an integrated approach that supports CEO and CFO demands for a comprehensive strategy which identifies and controls costs while improving project integrity. Facilities managers will benefit from streamlined project delivery methods that integrate a design process with technology implications and costs.

Genesis has built a strong reputation in technology planning through their work with a broad range of clients, from physician care groups to multi-organizational healthcare systems. Nimon has pioneered a strategic technology approach that integrates issues of long-range planning, capital management, operations and the adoption of future technology.

On April 2, 2007 Genesis Plannings team will join their colleagues in WHRs offices at 1111 Louisiana in Houston, Texas. In addition to their collaboration with medical planners, architects and interior designers at WHR, they will continue to provide clients in the healthcare community with the full range of technology planning services. Among their clients are The Methodist Hospital System, Memorial Hermann Healthcare, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Meridian Health, CHRISTUS Health and Susquehanna Health System.

As Watkins notes, Genesis has long been an invaluable resource to the healthcare industry. With the support of a wider platform, we expect to see even greater contributions from Bob and his team of experts.
