Jeff has always been fascinated by mechanisms, machines, and practical problem solving. On the other hand, he was strongly influenced by his mother, an intuitive artist who taught him and her friends' children to sculpt, paint, and draw – and also to appreciate mentoring. "Architecture brings all these perspectives together. Being a senior project architect is a perfect position for me. I seek to understand how a building and its systems should fit together, and then help the team make it happen. I get satisfaction seeing that what we drew is built the way we drew it. I like the challenges of a complex project, and figuring out how to do things better."
Invited by friends four years ago to join WHR, Jeff found the transition from another firm and other building types very easy. "I find the culture is very open and communicative, which makes it fun to collaborate." In the course of his work he’s developed helpful methodologies of architectural practice with colleagues, especially as they relate to WHR's BIM development. He’s also a natural teacher, who loves mentoring architectural interns.
If he couldn't work, Jeff would fish. He's done it since he was a child, although he got away from it for a long time because of college and raising a family. Recently invited on some fishing trips he’s enjoying it again, accepting the challenges of catching the big ones with the same problem solving skills and intuition he practices at work. |
