Learning to be a lifelong mentor and teacher of others only comes with first-hand experience and practice. The Fellowship includes the opportunity to help teach a master’s level course with Senior Medical Planner, Anthony Haas. I have found this course to be of high interest to those that enroll and to me as well. During the course, the Fellow has a couple opportunities to give a lecture. I was able to practice my presentation skills through a lecture on the history of healthcare architecture.
Since I started at WHR, there has been an increased interest in piloting an intern/mentor program within the firm. Championing the effort, Amanda Scott (Interior Designer/Architectural Intern) has initiated an energetic team of people to make it a success. As the Emerging Professional’s Companion (EPC) Co-Coordinator, I have been able to put a couple lunch-time activities together for the in-house architectural interns completing their Intern Development Program (IDP) hours for licensure. I hope to see this program grow in the upcoming months.
